FAQ
How much do I need to worry about humidity with my guitar?
Maintaining healthy humidity is THE MOST IMPORTANT element of guitar care, particularly in cold climates where heating systems can wreak havoc on wood. Wood behaves like a sponge, expanding and contracting as moisture is absorbed and released. When exposed to dry environments, the thin plates of the guitar's soundboard, back and sides can warp, crack, and separate, leading to substantial damage.

To keep your guitar healthy, please ensure that is is kept in an environment above 40% relative humidity. The ideal is 45-50%. Humid conditions, while not ideal, do not typically cause extensive damage like dry conditions do. If you can't control the room environment with a humdifier, I strongly recommend using a guitar humidifier like the Oasis OH-1 or, for severely dry environments, the Oasis OH-5 Plus. You can monitor the humidity inside the case with a small hygrometer like the Oasis OH-2C.
